A true resurgence story is one where circumstances don’t determine a person’s determination to succeed. The owners of Saigon Drip Cafe, Phu, Frankie and Khanh have stemmed from humble beginnings, bonding over similar financial situations and growing in the neighborhood of Section 8. Shooting hoops, riding bikes, and other young people activities, these guys built long-lasting chemistry that has transpired into an idea like that Taylor Swift song, which they never thought in their “Wildest Dreams” would be possible.
Perfecting the crafts of Vietnamese cuisine, Phu and Frankie carried over skills from working at their family-owned spot, i5 Pho which has unfortunately been forced to close their doors due to Covid. They knew, however, their passion for crafting unique and flavorful dishes wouldn’t end there. Connecting with their childhood buddies once again, Khanh and Dara were able to provide that foundation to set up what is now known as THE Saigon Drip Cafe.
“Who the hell is gonna buy a 10-dollar Banh-Mi?”
Khanh even said himself, it still sounds preposterous. But what the outsiders don't understand about the menu and why it is priced the way it is, is that they don’t offer the same kind of quality that others do. Take their renowned Banh-Mi drip for example. They call it the best damn Banh-Mi in town and it honestly is fact. Made with fresh bread that won't leave your mouth with that gritty feeling that most Banh-Mi’s give you, paired with the marinated and tender brisket straight off the grill, and of course the fatty yet perfect dip of the beef bone marrow soup, all of which justifying that statement. So the hell with the $10 dollars?
Without even mentioning the infamous wings and strong Vietnamese coffee that they also provide, it’s without a doubt that they are doing something right with their food.

Appreciative as ever, Saigon Drip Cafe has always reciprocated that same affection shown by neighboring businesses. Regardless of their services or differences, lending a helping hand isn’t something they hesitate to provide. It’s a huge reason why hospitality is known throughout Saigon Drip. It’s also not like they haven’t endured those kinds of hardships in their lives before. They have. Growing up in poverty-stricken communities, they understood fully what it’s like to be in a position where opportunities seem limited. Having that background of shared experiences, they are instilled with deep empathy forthose in similar situations. Efforts to alleviate and assist with those struggles have been an emphasis for Saigon Drip, taking in any and every opportunity to help as many people in the community as possible, symbolizing Saigon Drip as a beacon of hope. The community at Pioneer and beyond has become one giant family of diversity and inclusion, and also an area where these owners can simply have a cold one with neighboring businesses. A friendly reminder that Saigon Drip Cafe loves to promote is to simply smile because “it doesn’t cost a damn thing.”
